Mercury Nominated Music Producer Andy Ross personally records and mixes each project to come out of Astar Studios. This is what makes Astar Studios so unique in that you get the opportunity to work with an established producer who will record and mix your project to the highest standard. If you do however wish to simply record but not have your tracks mixed, already having your own producer that is also fine.

Recording and Mixing is an art form which takes years of experience. Andy records things beautifully, looking to capture the true quality of the sound itself. With preferential microphone choices, techniques and positioning, Andy certainly achieves the highest standard.

When it comes to the mix stage, Andy uses an array of both outboard and plugins. Andy looks for not only clarity and space for each individual instrument but also to give each style of music the correct feel, vibe and balance, whether that be the sparkly top end or beefy low bottom end. Andy is extremely versatile and a multi-instrumentalist which helps to really understand what sound the artist or band are looking for.

Andy has mixed and recorded all styles from Rock, Pop, Jazz, Country, Classical, Rnb, Hip Hop, Grime, Blues, Soul, Big string projects – YOU NAME IT!!!

Andy was nominated as Rising Star by ProSound and has worked upon records which have respectively hit number 1 in the iTunes Jazz, Rock and Blues charts. Andy also has a Mercury Nomination for an acoustic jazz Record by Kit Downes (Golden) and has a Radio 2 record of the Week to his name. Andy also worked with acclaimed Manchester Rapper Geko on numerous tracks, Ian Brown from the Stone Roses and Peter Hook from Joy Division.

Andy has also worked on commercials for tv and brands including the likes of the BBC, ITV, Yamaha and most recently Pepsi.
