At Astar Studios we seek to capture the very best performance from every artist and help support their musical ambitions. As a ‘Producer Owned’ studio, our reputation rests upon the quality of every recording that bears our name and that of the studio’s producer Andy Ross.
Where needed we provide help with songwriting, pre-production and access to the finest instruments and session musicians.

Motel Sundown are a UK trio country and western band.
The band came in and recorded their debut album – If You Were Listening in late 2022.

After co-producing the track The Paris Match for the 30th anniversary of The Style Council with original drummer Steve White, which would go on to receive Radio 2 record of the week, Krystyna asked me to produce her album Paint A Brighter Day. The track Heaven Knows from the album would go on to be nominated for a Mobo.

After meeting Kit Downes in 2009, formerly of the band Empirical, Kit asked me if I would like to produce his debut album with Calum Gourlay on bass and James Maddren on drums. The album titled Golden would go on to receive a Mercury Nomination and it is something I am immensely proud of.

The Album titled Honeytrap, co-written and produced by Andy Ross reached number 1 in the iTunes Jazz Charts and the band have gone on from strength to strength in recent years.

Rolla Band who recorded at Astar recently hit number one in the iTunes Rock Charts. Guitarist Tom Paddon from the band was Andy’s assistant engineer whilst studying at university.
Artist – Ella Shaw

Ella, came to Astar off the back of Britain’s Got Talent. Andy recorded Ella’s debut album Imperfections which led her to have her an entire show devoted to her on Vintage TV and a performance to over 21,000 people at the Arena in Manchester with Young Voices. Ella also toured with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Manchester born rapper and YouTube sensation Geko recorded 2 tracks down at Astar. Geko is signed to Universal and is followed by millions online. Geko was signed when he was only just 13 years old and continues to have increased success.

Adelaide Taylor’s debut album If I’m Being Honest is to be released later this year. Her debut single from the album titled Bad Place has received regular airplay on Radio 2. Adelaide is one to watch for the future.
